Operation REACH has engaged, empowered, and inspired children, youth, and families since 1999. The organization has a strong track record of developing and delivering high-quality programs that produce positive outcomes for the participants it serves. Now in its 10th year, the Operation REACH serves more than 12,000 children and youth through innovative community-based programs across the Gulf South in Atlanta, Birmingham, Mobile, and New Orleans.
ORI is distinguished from similar youth-serving organizations primarily because of its innovative approach to youth programs. Operation REACH and its leadership are entrepreneurial, pursuing revenue-generating social enterprises and developing cutting-edge programming like the Gulfsouth Youth Biodiesel Project.
The organization has been recognized for its community leadership by numerous entities, ranging from Tiger Woods and former New Orleans Mayor Nagin to the Editorial Board of The Times Picayune. As a result of its successful track record, Operation REACH was tapped in 2008 by the Corporation for National and Community Service to replicate nationally, beginning in the states of Alabama and Georgia. Operation REACH is the only Louisiana-born organization to have received funding from the Corporation for national expansion.
